To work as a proactive member of the waste management team, managing the operation of the Household Waste & Recycling Centres, ensuring the sites achieve a high recovery rate contributing to Merthyr Tydfil\'s waste-related targets.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing operations and staff at the sites.
  2. Ensuring HWRCs operate in compliance with site permit requirements at all times.
  3. Controlling material input and export in accordance with the waste hierarchy.
  4. Recording and reporting material throughputs according to legislation and council policies.
  5. Ensuring markets are available for all materials collected.
  6. Maintaining capacity for material acceptance.
  7. Developing and improving site performance operationally and regarding legislative targets.
  8. Preparing reports as required.
  9. Attending relevant meetings.
  10. Ensuring the efficient operation of both HWRCs.
  11. Achieving high recovery levels (Preparation for Re-use, Recycling, or Composting).
  12. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness at the sites.
