Overview: This is a temporary contract for one year with the possibility to become permanent. Speciality: Resource Base Autistic Spectrum Disorder / Communication Difficulties. Class Teacher mainly Foundation phase but will work alongside KS2 pupils in a team approach.

Caedraw Primary is a successful, happy school situated at the lower end of Merthyr Tydfil, set in pleasant grounds next to St Tydfil’s church. We aim to develop reflective, ambitious and confident learners who seek and enjoy challenges, and we encourage creativity, innovation and independence. The Governors are seeking suitably qualified teachers to work in our LRB class with pupils aged 3-7 having ASD / communication difficulties.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a knowledge and understanding of ASD
  • Be able to work as part of a committed hard-working team
  • Be caring, positive and make learning fun and enjoyable
  • Be highly motivated and hold high expectations of pupils’ wellbeing, achievements, and attitudes to learning
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents, the Governing Body and the wider community

Qualifications and requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in the field of additional learning would be an advantage.
  • A candidate without Additional Needs qualifications who has a desire to work with ASD pupils would be required, if appointed, to undertake appropriate training as arranged by the LA.

Additional information:

The successful candidate will be required to work with pupils aged 3-7 having ASD/communication difficulties. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
