The PE team is committed to creating a supportive environment where professional development, learning from each other and sharing good practice is at the heart of the department. As a department, our vision is to provide a curriculum that is accessible to all students through the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning of a broad range of activities. By the end of their Physical Education journey at Merstham Park, students should have developed a personal commitment to, and genuine passion for, maintaining their health and well-being into adult life.
We value the opportunities that extra-curricular activities can provide. As a result, we have a broad programme, and all members of the Department are actively involved in running clubs at lunchtime, coaching team practices and attending competitive matches after school. We also run an inclusive set of house tournaments throughout the year and a whole school competitive Sports Day at the end of the year. These events are centred around mass participation and developing the house ethos across all year groups.
