We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Support Medical Secretary to join our expanding team in the Radiology Department at Southport Hospital. Applicants should have experience working in a medical environment and a background of working in an office environment with the ability to liaise with all relevant departments within the Trust. Being a team player and having first-rate organisational skills is essential.
Main Duties
- Work as part of a team to provide secretarial support to the Radiology Department.
- Work across all specialties to ensure timely dispatch of Radiology reports to General Practitioners and Consultants on a timely basis.
Qualifications
- NVQ III or equivalent experience.
- RSA II/III Typing or word processing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- AMSPAR Diploma.
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).

- Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both internal and external.

- Previous secretarial experience with knowledge of secretarial/administrative procedures and systems.
- Previous Medical Secretary experience.

- Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods when transcribing medical audio dictation.
- Ability to deal with distressed patients or relatives when answering telephone.
- Ability to cope with frequent indirect exposure to distressing or emotional situations in clinical correspondence.

- Use of trolleys to transport casenotes.
- Continuous use of VDU.
- Working in an office environment.
