Job overview

We are looking to recruit Receptionists within the Radiology and Cardiorespiratory team at Ormskirk District General Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible and rotate across Southport and Ormskirk Hospital sites when needed however the role is predominately based at our Ormskirk site. The post holder will be responsible for the registration of patients, booking patient appointments, general reception duties, and any other administration duties. The learning and development opportunities are vast, we consider the department to be an innovative and creative environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clerical support to the Southport and Ormskirk Radiology & Cardiorespiratory Department.

The post holder will be required to work across both sites of the Radiology & Cardiorespiratory Department service where necessary.

This will also include reception duties at various locations, data input, record management, booking service users into the CRIS & Careflow Patient Administration Systems and assisting in the day to day running of the reception.

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE levels standard or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
  • ECDL or TLM equivalent experience of using Microsoft Office Software Packages

Experience

  • Experience of dealing with the public, both face to face and on the telephone
  • Previous receptionist or administrative experience
  • Experience of working in the NHS or similar Health Care Setting

Skills

  • Typing and keyboard skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Good interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy
  • Good Customer Service skills and ability to deal with service users in a professional and positive manner
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
