Grade: NHS AfC: Band 2

Contract: 12 months (12 month fixed term contract)

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (10:00 - 18:00 per day Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend work)

Site: Ormskirk Hospital, Town Ormskirk

Salary: £25,272 Per Annum

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Logistics Team leader with the day to day running of the transport and stores department and accuracy of the transport paperwork.
  • The safe transportation of scopes to the endoscopy unit on the Ormskirk site.
  • Assist with the transport and delivery of Sterile services, Medical records, Pharmacy and general distribution of goods.
  • Flexibility in approach to meet changes to Transport schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation relating to all road users.
  • Liaison with Transport and Portering staff to organise the efficient transfer of goods in an appropriate manner.
  • To drive vehicles within legal parameters and with due care and concern for other road users.
  • To carry out daily safety checks and inform the Transport & Logistics Manager of any defects in a timely fashion.
  • Check the accuracy of the supporting documentation of received/delivered goods.
  • Point of contact for Service Users over suitable transportation of staff and goods to various destinations.
  • Deliver Sterile services, Medical records, Pharmacy and general distribution of goods and paperwork to agreed locations within the Trust.
  • Ensure stores areas are maintained in a clean and tidy condition and walkways are kept free from obstruction.
  • When required ensure that all goods are receipted onto the appropriate system.
  • Ensure that computer records are maintained accurately and respect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure that any empty roll cages, pallets, tote boxes and other returnable containers are returned with appropriate documentation to NHS Logistics or suppliers.
  • Assist in the maintaining of accurate records and filing systems for delivery documentation made via the Receipts and Distribution area.
  • To comply with Manual Handling Regulations, COSHH Regulations, and Health and Safety policies laid out by the Trust.
  • Liaison and working with other colleagues within the Facilities and Commercial Services Department and other service users.
  • Liaison with Procurement and Finance staff over issues relating to payment for goods received from or returned to NHS Logistics and other suppliers.
  • Assist in the development of the service provided to customers in response to changes within the Trust.
  • To keep up to date with all mandatory and general training either classroom based or on the ESR system.
  • Monitor and maintain Health and Safety within the workplace ensuring existing potential hazards are put right or reported to the appropriate person in accordance with the Trusts Policy.
  • Ensure that protective clothing, as provided by the Trust, is worn as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation relating to Risk Management.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Full Driving Licence
  • Basic numeracy and literacy
  • EDCL or IT related skills
  • GCSE A-C or equivalent level or skills

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Large scale or Health Care portering work
  • Use of Computer, VDUs, and photocopier
  • Ability to demonstrate background knowledge of NHS
  • Understanding of cleaning and hygiene principles
  • Worked in a Logistics Environment
