We want talented and enthusiastic people from all backgrounds to join #TeamMWL. The role is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in our Dermatology Department.
Main Duties
- Work autonomously, managing a caseload of patients within the specialty while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver individualised and personalised direct patient care in clinics such as surgical theatre lists, skin cancer clinics, skin cancer follow‑up clinics, non‑medical prescribing, and education for patients and junior staff.
- Provide supervision of nursing care of in‑patients admitted for assessment and treatment.
- Offer support to ward staff, act as liaison between services, and contribute to the Cancer MDT and other specialities.
- Develop and manage nurse‑led services including holistic needs assessments, diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up.
- Ensure timely pre‑admission care, interventions and discharge planning in conjunction with the multi‑disciplinary team.
- Act on concerns raised by team members or service users, addressing them according to Trust Policies and Guidelines.
- Define and implement clinical protocols, guidelines and audit processes.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse at Band 6 or above.
- Dermatology nursing qualification.
- Evidence of CPD and teaching/assessing qualification (ENB998) or equivalent mentorship module.
- Relevant specialist courses in dermatology (diploma/degree level) or equivalent experience.
- Degree/MSc or currently working towards one.
Knowledge & Experience
- Clinical experience in dermatology or oncology at Band 6 level or above.
- Knowledge of quality standards, benchmarking and audit.
- Understanding of the NMC code of professional conduct.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring nursing staff.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, carers, medical staff and the public.
- Knowledge of Trust and corporate objectives.

- Able to work under pressure and maintain concentration under frequent clinical demands.
- Physically fit to move and handle patients and equipment.
- Will work across clinics, attend meetings and have some office‑based tasks.
- Exposed to sensitive, emotional circumstances when dealing with patients.
