This post is for a Senior Clinical Hand Fellow in Burns & Plastics Surgery. This is a whole-time 12 month fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Surgeon looking to progress their career in burns, plastics and reconstructive surgery to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
The post is for senior trainees who wish to further their sub-speciality experience in the field of Hand Surgery. The successful candidate will be attached to Consultant Plastic Surgeons with interest in elective hand and trauma surgery to gain further training with the expertise of these consultants. Exposure to the full spectrum of adult and paediatric hand surgery within Plastic Surgery is available.
Main duties of the job
- To assist Consultants and Specialty Doctors with patient management.
- The successful candidate will assist with the day to day running of the service and to supervise, help and instruct the junior doctors as part of the team.
- Duties will include outpatient clinics and operating lists, attendance on other departmental activities e.g., Audit M&M meetings.

- Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC at the time of application
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualifications
- MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
- Microsurgery course
- FRCS (plast) or equivalent
- Diploma of Hand Surgery commencement

- Evidence of active participation in audit
- Evidence of commitment to Hand surgery (publications & logbook)

- Communication skills, capacity to communicate effectively and sensitively to others, able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand
