We are looking for a qualified Consultant Paediatrician with a Special Interest in Neonatology and Respiratory to join our multidisciplinary team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. The role involves clinical duties as Paediatrician of the Week, Neonatologist, and leading General Paediatric, Ambulatory, and Eating Disorder clinics. The incumbent will co‐coordinate a 1‐in‐11 weekend and weekday on‐call rota with other consultants.
Main responsibilities
- Deliver acute medical care for newborns and children.
- Provide neonatal care in a Level 2 unit.
- Lead and supervise Paediatric and Neonatal clinical teams.
- Advise on and conduct general Paediatric, ambulatory, and eating‐disorder clinics.
- Participate in acute care, paediatric, and respiratory emergency and advance care pathways.
- Engage in departmental governance, audit, and clinical education.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration and RCPCH membership; on the Specialist Register or CESR within six months of CCT.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Knowledge and skills
- Demonstrated competence in General Paediatrics and Neonatology, including caring for neonates in a Level 2 unit.
- Ability to undertake robust audit, research, and teaching within the last three years.
- Strong communication, teaching, and supervisory skills.
- Proficiency in safeguarding children, practical Paediatric procedures, and IT skills.
