The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region. A year after Baroness Casey's landmark National Audit on Group-Based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, policing continues to drive transformational change in how vulnerable children are protected and offenders are brought to justice.

As an Intelligence Development Officer within the TOEX Programme, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Operation Beaconport, the national policing response to group-based child sexual exploitation, helping to turn complex intelligence and data into insight that informs investigations, drives safeguarding, and shapes the response to organised exploitation.

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organised crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

The initial secondment period is for a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027, reviewable with any extension subject to performance and continued funding. Applicants who have applied in the last 6 months are not eligible to apply again.

Further developments in NWROCU’s capabilities are anticipated in the future. Applications received for operational roles that require mandatory Officer Safety/First Aid training must hold valid in-date training or be able to undertake upon application.

The Grade of this role has been determined using the Merseyside HAY procedure and has been afforded a Merseyside Grade D. This equates to a salary range of £30,333-£32,613. Successful applicants from other Regional Forces will be paid a salary within this pay range.

These are full-time roles working ‘flexitime’; however, applicants must be aware that there is a requirement for the post holders to be flexible in relation to working hours. Full details of the role requirements are provided in the JDQ.

Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post. In cases where the commute to work is in excess of the applicant’s current commute, the excess travel will be paid.

NWROCU is committed to ensuring that we have a workforce that represents the communities we serve, and we are keen to attract applications from underrepresented groups.

Further information, advice and guidance regarding the posts can be obtained from Ruth Lewin (ruth.lewin@nwrocu.police.uk) or Leanza Van-Der-Westhuizen (Leanza.van.der.Westhuizen@nwrocu.police.uk) – interested parties are encouraged to make contact to learn more about the role.

All applications must be supported by the Home Force support; the level of support required must comply with local Force policy e.g. whether support is required at ACC level and HR Support. Before starting an application, applicants must download the NWROCU secondment support form, ensure it is completed in full and then upload to your application.

Applications from GMP will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants will be prompted, and applications will not proceed until this has been completed.
