Description

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.

We are seeking a Detective Inspector to lead and coordinate the regional response to County Lines and Organised Exploitation. Working with regional and national forces and partner agencies you will provide tactical advice, enhance the intelligence picture, direct analytical resources, and drive innovative, data-led disruption. The role delivers against 4P objectives, identifies funding opportunities, and ensures effective safeguarding and enforcement activity across complex, cross border threats.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team, maintaining capability, performance and professional standards.
  • Deliver the TOEX operating model and County Lines coordination, aligning regional activity with local and national priorities.
  • Provide tactical advice, intelligence strategies and evidence-based support to enhance safeguarding and target exploitation threats.
  • Coordinate regional operations, disruptions and multi-agency interventions against high-harm individuals, groups and organised crime.
  • Strengthen intelligence sharing, analytical capabilities and partner collaboration to maximise operational effectiveness.
  • Drive performance, continuous improvement, governance, compliance, health and safety, and information management standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • Accredited PIP 2 SIO with proven experience managing serious, complex investigations and operational activity.
  • Strong leadership record, delivering outcomes through effective team management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Extensive knowledge of intelligence systems, the National Intelligence Model, and intelligence-led decision making.
  • Experience managing threat, risk and harm, with strong understanding of safeguarding, legislation and multi-agency partnership working.

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

The initial secondment period is for a fixed term until 31st March 2027 reviewable with any extension subject to performance and continued funding.

Further developments in NWROCU’s capabilities are anticipated in the future. Applications received for Operational roles that require mandatory Officer Safety/First Aid training must hold valid in date training or able to undertake upon application.

Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post.
