Introduction

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five‑force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism services to regional forces and forming part of the national Counter Terrorism Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual to support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

Role Overview

Research is the foundation of everything we do in CTPNW. Accuracy and attention to detail are vital to ensure assessments made are accurate to aid the decision‑making process. As an Intelligence Researcher you will transform raw information into meaningful data to support local and regional assessments and specialist investigation teams. Your research and scanning of available systems will aid the identification of emerging trends, patterns in behaviour and inform on key threats posed within the North West region.

Main Responsibilities

  • Scan and evaluate intelligence from open and closed sources and research various databases to enable the Intelligence Analysts to produce accurate intelligence assessments.
  • Produce accurate research summaries (written and verbal) utilising all available intelligence to provide direction and focus for the region.
  • Work to strict time deadlines to identify and research all available data relating to problems, patterns, trends or threats, risk and harm regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • Actively embrace problem‑solving policing with the aim of supporting intelligence/analytical products that assist in developing interventions to reduce regional risk.
  • Liaise with internal units, other regional forces and the national coordination centre to ensure appropriate sharing of information and intelligence, in line with all relevant legislation and policy.

Vetting and Security Requirements

  • Must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting at Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
  • Applicants must be UK nationals or dual nationals with a British element; other nationalities are not eligible.
  • Eligible candidates must have completed their probation and hold the correct rank for the vacancy.
  • Applicants must not have previously been unsuccessful at an assessment or interview for the same post within the last six months.
  • Applicants must have no outstanding disciplinary actions (excluding complaints).
  • Minimum tenure in the current post (where applicable) must be satisfied.

Inclusion, Diversity & Equality

CTPNW is committed to achieving an inclusive and diverse workforce reflective of the communities we serve and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds. The Equality Act 2010 makes it unlawful to discriminate against a disabled person in all areas of employment, including recruitment. We will do our best to make reasonable adjustments to the working arrangements and/or the working environment if possible.

Additional Information

The Ethical Policing Principles, Valuing Difference and Leadership Expectations for policing are nationally recognised behaviours and values that will be considered during the selection process.
