Merseyside Police
Merseyside Police is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding place to work. We take pride in everything we do and are committed to putting the communities of Merseyside first.
We are committed to continuous improvement across our organisation, including tackling Serious Organised Crime, ending Violence Against Women & Girls, strengthening Diversity & Inclusion, and building public trust and confidence through Community Engagement.
We are a supportive employer that invests in our people and provides opportunities for career development, flexible working, generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and access to a range of wellbeing facilities. Our modern headquarters also offers free parking and on-site gym facilities.
About the Role
We are looking for an Integration Developer to join our ICT team, helping to enable the secure and reliable flow of information between the critical applications and services that support policing across Merseyside.
The role involves the design, development, support and enhancement of APIs, integrations and enterprise services using modern integration technologies, focusing on the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. You'll work with a range of business systems, solving technical problems and delivering high-quality integration solutions.
We recognise that talented developers come from a variety of technical backgrounds. Whether your experience is in software development, application support, databases, automation, cloud technologies or business systems, we're interested in people with strong technical aptitude, good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Previous MuleSoft experience is not required. Training and development will be provided, giving you the opportunity to build specialist skills in enterprise integration and API development.
This is a career graded role, providing a clear pathway for progression as your technical skills, experience and responsibilities develop. Your starting grade will reflect your existing skills and experience.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and supporting integrations between enterprise applications and business systems.
- Designing, building and maintaining APIs and data interfaces.
- Working with system owners, suppliers and technical teams to deliver secure and reliable integration solutions.
- Troubleshooting, monitoring and improving existing integrations and services.
- Using modern development practices including source control, testing and deployment processes.
- Developing your knowledge and expertise in enterprise integration technologies, including MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
What We're Looking For
Essential
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience in software development, application support or another relevant technical IT role.
- Experience of programming, scripting, databases or software automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to turn technical requirements into practical solutions.
- An ability and willingness to learn new technologies and work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Desirable
Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Development technologies such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, PowerShell or similar.
- APIs, RESTful web services, JSON, XML or API design concepts.
- Data integration, transformation or mapping between different systems and data formats.
- Developing or supporting business applications and enterprise systems.
- Integration platforms, middleware technologies or cloud services.
- Source control and development tools such as Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- DevOps practices, automated deployment, testing or CI/CD.
Who This Role Could Suit
You may already be a software developer looking to broaden your experience into APIs and enterprise systems, a junior developer ready to take the next step, or an application support, database or technical professional looking to move further into development and integration.
You might also be at an earlier stage of your career and looking for an opportunity to develop specialist technical skills. What matters most is your technical aptitude, problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.
You do not need to meet every desirable requirement to apply. If you enjoy solving technical problems, have a good foundation in development or related technologies and are motivated to learn, we would encourage you to apply.
Application Requirements
Please ensure you have approval to apply by your Ch Supt/Head of department before submitting your application.
To be eligible, you must provide evidence that you meet the minimum skills criteria and hold the required qualifications at the time of application.
We cannot accept expected grades. Certificates must be attached with your application.
