We are looking for an experienced and proactive Financial Transactions Team Leader to join our Finance department. This is a key role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial transactions. You will contribute to the development and monitoring of processes and procedures, maintain effective payment systems, and support income recovery on behalf of the Force. Acting as a deputy to the Financial Transactions Services Manager, you will play a vital part in ensuring financial integrity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Financial Transactions team, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Monitor compliance with internal financial controls and external regulations, including HMRC Construction Scheme and VAT legislation.
- Provide informed advice on debt recovery strategies and liaise with Legal Services where necessary.
- Support the implementation and improvement of financial systems and procedures.
- Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of all transactions within the remit of the role.
About You
- Qualifications: Level 4 finance qualification or significant experience in corporate financial transactions.
- Experience: Proven background in finance operations, ideally in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, HMRC Construction Scheme, and debt recovery processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with experience using financial accounting systems and understanding key interfaces between General Ledger, Debtors, and Creditors modules.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team under pressure to meet deadlines.
