Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our Accountancy Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with budget planning and monitoring expenditure, in particular regarding employee budgets and expenditure.
- Ensuring approved budgets and all Financial Regulations and Contract Standing Orders are adhered to.
- Maintaining the payroll database and employee structures, this includes making amendments following the issue of position statements, in liaison with HR.
- Assisting in the annual preparation of revenue budgets and responsibility for quarterly variance analysis, including identifying and rectifying any material differences.
Qualifications
- You must be part qualified or a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, together with a high standard of Maths and English.
- It is essential that you have experience in the use of e-financial accounting applications and experience in the use of the Business Objects report writer.
- Working accurately to tight deadlines, and experience of monitoring and reporting on financial performance and dealing with external application providers are also essential requirements.
- In addition, it is essential that you are experienced in working as part of a team within a financial environment and you possess excellent communication skills.
This position is offered as a Fixed Term contract to cover maternity leave.
