Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Band 7 / 8a

We are looking for qualified practitioner psychologists with experience, skills, and enthusiasm to help provide quality services for older people and people living with dementia across Liverpool and Sefton.

You would be part of a large psychology team, consisting of clinical and counselling psychologists and assistant psychologists, with strong values related to person-centred care and human rights-based approaches. We promote a ‘shared-team learning’ ethos with regular opportunities for CPD, reflective practice and group supervision.

Main duties of the job:

• Each of the roles would also involve being part of a wider multi-disciplinary team; the post holder would be required to offer specialist advice, leadership and consultation to non-psychologist colleagues.
• The role would also involve the development of psychological skills across the whole workforce through speciality training, supervision, mentorship and reflective practice.
• You’ll also work to support people with a range of psychological issues by providing specialist psychological assessment, therapy and interventions to service users and carers.
• As a team we regularly utilise a broad range of models, routinely completing neuropsychological assessments with group neuropsychological supervision once every two weeks.

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to social justice as we are committed to supporting people from socially disadvantaged communities and advocating for the needs of older people and people living with dementia. We are also looking for someone with excellent communication and people skills and a proven passion for improving the lives of clients and their families.

You may be expected to audit and evaluate a range of outcomes in terms of the benefit for service users, staff and the wider service. An active interest in research, publication and supporting others to develop their evaluation skills will be an advantage.

All posts are suitable for newly qualified and current clinicians. Relevant training, support and experience will be provided to ensure that if you’re successful, you’ll be eligible to apply for preceptorship to an 8a clinical psychology post - if professional qualifications allow and after demonstrating significant demonstrable post qualifying experience.

Person specification:

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
• Experience of administering and interpreting neuropsychological assessments.
• Further training in working with older people or people living with dementia.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral level training in clinical psychology accredited by the BPS or its approved equivalent.
