Role Overview
This role is ideally suited for a Newly Qualified Paramedic looking to build experience across a diverse range of service environments. You will work alongside experienced multidisciplinary professionals, gaining valuable exposure to both routine and emergency care settings. You will apply your academic knowledge in real-world situations, delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care. The role provides the opportunity to further develop your clinical decision-making skills while working within your scope of practice, supported by governance frameworks and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- As a Qualified Paramedic, you will assess, treat, and, where appropriate, transport patients in line with Mersey Medical policies, procedures, and current clinical guidelines.
- You will deliver care across a range of situations, from minor illness and injury to urgent and emergency presentations, always working within your scope of practice and level of competence.
- You will be responsible for accurately completing patient care records and operational documentation, while effectively communicating with patients, carers, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- In this role, you will develop your ability to recognise and respond to a patient’s wider needs, including identifying any safeguarding, social, or environmental concerns and escalating these appropriately.
- You will contribute to infection prevention and control by maintaining high standards of cleanliness across vehicles, equipment, and working environments.
- You will also be required to safely operate company vehicles in accordance with legal and organisational policies, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- You will carry out regular vehicle and equipment checks to ensure operational readiness and report any defects in line with company procedures.
- When working with other team members, such as Patient Transport Attendants, you will begin to take on leadership responsibilities appropriate to your level of experience, supported by senior clinicians.
- A key part of the role will involve actively engaging in continuous professional development (CPD), maintaining a portfolio, and working towards full clinical competence and confidence as an autonomous practitioner.
- Working as part of an ambulance crew, excellent communication, caring and time management skills are a must, as you will support and care for a range of patients with different conditions, mobility and disabilities.
Essential Requirement
- Minimum of 24 months post registration with HCPC with no restrictions on practice.
- Must have completed NQP Portfolio - with evidence.
- CERAD Certificate or equivalent blue light certificate.
- Previous experience in emergency response or pre-hospital care is preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Full Manual Driving Licence with C1 capabilities desired.
- Supernumerary shifts.
