Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech and Language Therapy Team Manager within our Knowsley CYP service. We are seeking an individual who is an experienced leader, enthusiastic, driven and has a passion for service transformation and delivery of change. This is a full‑time post with a large proportion of hybrid working.
The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery of the clinical service in the defined area and will provide team leadership and management to a team. The primary function is to deliver leadership, management and communication to ensure the delivery of efficient, effective, coordinated and high‑quality care to patients/clients.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and management to the clinical team and be responsible for the delivery of the service within the area.
- Work in partnership with other services/stakeholders to enable patients/clients to be treated in the appropriate setting.
- Ensure the team provides a high quality service to its clients by providing caseload and clinical supervision; maintain line management responsibility for the team with appropriate delegation.
- Develop and implement systems and processes to deliver the quality strategy within the designated area.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and development to staff, including those progressing into caseload management roles; participate in policy and service development and in professional groups as required.
- Act as an advocate for patients/clients and help shape attitudes and behaviour in forums and professional groups.
- Plan rotas, schedules and working patterns to ensure business continuity; practice autonomously and use evidence‑based clinical decision making.
- Provide clinical expertise to manage complex and highly complex situations; assess patient/client conditions and develop individualised care plans following holistic assessment in collaboration with patients/clients and carers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver services; contribute to service redesign and policy development; participate in audits, research and supervision (individual and group).
- Ensure that all clinical activity reflects core health objectives (promotion, self‑care, disease management, long‑term conditions, palliative care).
- Monitor budgets, report on spending, and ensure probity in timecard and mileage authorisation as required.
- Provide induction for new team members and students; ensure staff attend mandatory training; delegate administration and clerical duties as appropriate.
- Maintain records to professional standards; monitor and ensure quality of patient care through audits, caseload supervision and clinical supervision.
- Lead and support talent development, identify skills gaps and address them to support service delivery and improvement.
- Identify and manage risks, report incidents per Trust policies and participate in investigations as delegated; ensure patient satisfaction is monitored and used to improve care.
- Ensure that the team maintains up‑to‑date PDPs and KSFs; support ongoing professional development and appraisal cycles.
- Provide data to monitor team contracts and objectives, and contribute to the development of local services and service modernisation.
- Provide mentorship to staff developing into caseload management roles and support students and learners in the team.
