This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active receptionist to join the team based at Mersea Island Medical Practice, on a part time basis for 17.5 hours per week.
For effective patient care we need a strong and supportive administration team, who keep each branch operating at its best and most efficient. This role is critical to the smooth day to day running of the practice, supporting patients to access the appointment most suited to their needs and responding to all queries in a timely manner.
Main duties include:

Answering the telephone in a polite and professional manner.

Receiving and making calls as required, taking messages as appropriate.

Using the appointment system, booking appropriate clinicians.

Liaising professionally between clinical, admin staff, patients, and other agencies to carry out appropriate tasks.

Processing post both incoming and outgoing.

Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring data breaches are minimised·

Actioning prescription requests accurately, timely and in line with current policy·

Providing results to patients on request of clinicians.

Ensuring that new registrations are dealt with in a timely manner and that all information entered onto the clinical system is accurate.

Scanning documents and appropriate records

Issuing and receiving specimens.

Advising patients of charges for private services, accepting payment and issuing receipts.

A good standard of education including Maths and English.

Previous experience of providing excellent customer service.

Previous reception experience would be beneficial, ideally working within primary care.

Strong IT skills and be able to use computer based systems.

Experience of SystmOne would be desirable, however full training will be given to a suitable candidate.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

Have a friendly and positive approach towards patients and other visitors either in person or over the telephone., Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
