The Opportunity
Footasylum is a leading UK-based retailer specialising in streetwear and sportswear, committed to delivering innovative and trend-setting products to our customers, with a strong focus on digital transformation and data-driven decision-making. We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Data team on a 6 month Contract. The role supports all teams across Footasylum, ranging from Stores and Merch to Profit Protection and the Warehouse. We also maintain several datasets on Power BI which are used by the business via connections to Excel sheets to allow for detailed ad hoc analysis. Having recently migrated our Data tech stack at Footasylum on to Azure Databricks and Power BI from SQL Server and SSRS, we have a large suite of reports which surface the data that the business needs to answer their key questions.
What you will do
- You will design reports to allow users to be confident in their findings and to make business decisions based on data driven insights.
- You will design reporting solutions for business projects and initiatives.
- You will identify and fix bugs within existing reports and communicate the impact to results.
- You will work alongside the Data Engineering team to identify bugs and provide requirements for views and tables in the data warehouse.
- You will be the go-to team member for support and guidance on SQL and Power BI.
- You will support the Principal BI Developer & Data Enablement Manager in planning and prioritising the work to be completed each sprint.
About you
We are looking for a driven individual who has a keen eye for detail and strives to ensure that they produce accurate information through visually appealing reporting. You will be comfortable liaising with technical teams to understand how business processes reflect in the data produced and are able to relay this back to the wider data team. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who has:
- Excellent SQL skills
- Excellent Power BI skills including Power Query and DAX
- Great analytical skills in analysing new data sets and understanding their value
- Good experience with Git
- Experience with large datasets and tabular models
- Great understanding of analysis cube models and incremental refresh policies
- Good experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio and ALM Toolkit
- A love for problem solving
- Confidence in bringing new ideas to the team
- Ability to support more junior team members with technical training, show and tell sessions and peer programming
- Good knowledge of data governance, data protection, and GDPR
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment alongside evolving the data tech stack and practices
Why Footasylum?
We are one of the leading omni-channel retailers across the UK, but more than that we are a brilliant place to work. We value you and your development. We have loads of examples of people moving upwards, across to other departments and given training to excel their personal and professional skills. Our aim is to create a fun environment, where your success is paramount to ours and you are given the right tools, support and platform to achieve your goals.
Diversity
We recognise and value the importance of diversity to help make sure we have lots of different perspectives when we are building services to customers and the wider business. This is great news for our business. Diversity for us is also, importantly, about building happy teams full of people that want to learn and want to be inspired by each other and our different experiences and backgrounds.
Recruitment Process
We review applications on an individual basis, and if we feel you would be a good fit we’ll invite you for a call or Teams video for an informal chat about the role, and to see if we’re a good fit for you. We value open and honest conversations and collaboration, giving you a chance to learn about what we are doing in an informal and friendly environment. We want to know about you and why you feel that this is the opportunity for you. Please note, this is not a remote role, and our expectation is that you will be able to attend Head Office in a hybrid way, in Greater Manchester.
