An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in driving profitable and sustainable growth within a growing, ambitious speciality chemicals distributor. Our client is an established and respected supplier of specialist ingredients and raw materials, supporting customers across a diverse range of technical applications. This role will focus on developing the company’s presence in speciality chemicals across key market segments including pharmaceutical APIs, intermediates and ingredients for health supplements and other nutraceutical products.

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for expanding market share, strengthening customer relationships and building a robust product portfolio across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively develop new business opportunities and win new customers across the UK and Europe
  • Manage, retain and grow existing customer accounts, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term partnerships
  • Create tailored commercial and technical solutions to meet specific customer needs and challenges
  • Act as the voice of the customer to identify market trends, competitive dynamics and growth opportunities that will feed into strategic planning
  • Manage relationships with existing principals and suppliers, nurturing strong and collaborative partnerships
  • Identify, evaluate and on-board new supply partners and product ranges to support portfolio expansion
  • Deliver confident and professional presentations to customers, principals and internal stakeholders
  • Represent the business at exhibitions, seminars and industry events
Candidate Profile
  • Several years experience in field-based sales within speciality chemical additives
  • Strong technical grounding; degree-level chemistry or similar highly desirable
  • Commercially astute with excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Proven ability to identify, develop and secure new business opportunities with drive and enthusiasm
  • Collaborative team player who is flexible, self-motivated and confident engaging with technical and operational stakeholders at all levels
  • Comfortable working in a home-based role with significant time spent travelling, including UK, European and occasional overnight stays
  • Full UK driving licence
