Police Officers for the City of Merrill are responsible for the protection of life and property, crime prevention and detection, enforcement of laws and ordinances, investigation of crimes, investigation of traffic accidents and traffic control, apprehension of those who violate laws, maintenance of order in the community as well as providing general assistance and services to the public.

Salary is based on current contractual agreement. Contract salary range is $32.61 - $36.45 per hour, the best in Lincoln County! Lateral Transfer:
The Merrill Police Department is now providing lateral transfer opportunities for experienced officers seeking to relocate to the Merrill community. Credit for up to seven (7) years of similar full-time experience may be granted for purposes of pay and vacation benefits.
Note: Applicants must use the current DJ-LE-330 application form (rev 6/22) and answer all three questions in section 6. Incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected. Accepted applicants must successfully complete each stage of the evaluation process which may include: a written examination, physical agility test, oral interviews, and an extensive background investigation. Conditional job offers are subject to successful completion of a psychological and medical examination, including a drug screen.
