Merrifield Consultants is delighted to partner with a brilliant Health charity in the search for a Philanthropy Manager (T&F and Grants). Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you'll lead and grow the Grants, Trusts and Foundations programme by managing a strong pipeline, securing significant new and repeat funding, and building lasting relationships with key funders. You'll manage a Philanthropy Officer, strengthen application and reporting processes across the team, and turn service insights into compelling cases for support. With a track record of winning major gifts, you'll bring clarity, creativity and collaboration to drive this vital income stream forward.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a portfolio of grant-makers, contributing towards a shared annual income target. This will involve planning, researching and submitting high quality, compelling funding applications to Trusts and Foundations. Your portfolio will consist primarily of large and medium grant makers, with ample opportunity to account manage our largest funders alongside SLT members.
- With support from the Head of Philanthropy, manage the stewardship journey for our existing portfolio of funders, underpinned by systematic processes and first-class relationship building, engendering trust, long-term passion and regular support.
- Prepare and deliver impactful and engaging presentations to funders (both at one-to-one and group level), outlining the charity's progress and plans, and tailoring to each audience.
- Contribute to strategy development for the charity's Trust programme, ensuring that the programme is run systematically and efficiently.
- Initiate and build relationships with supporters via telephone, email, face-to-face meetings, events, and through identifying and utilising peer-to-peer link.
Skills/Experience Required
- Experience of raising significant sums from grant making bodies.
- Highly successful relationship building skills, having built a portfolio of key supporters, including through face-to-face meetings and telephone conversations.
- Experience of managing team members or able to demonstrate an understanding of what it takes to manage people in a highly effective way, in order to deliver exceptional results.
- Experience of researching prospective grant makers and developing a pipeline of prospects.
- Ability to think laterally to tailor communications to create.
