We’re looking for a Visual Concept Artist to join Merlin Magic Making, the creative heart of Merlin, where ideas become immersive, story-driven experiences enjoyed by millions around the world. This role puts you at the centre of that journey, helping translate early ideas into compelling visual concepts that shape real-world attractions.

If you’re creatively driven, highly visual and enjoy bringing ideas to life through 2D, 3D and emerging tools, this is your chance to influence the look and feel of globally recognised guest experiences from concept through to delivery. This role sits within our Creative team, working closely with multidisciplinary partners across design, delivery and production. You’ll support the development of world-class attractions by creating engaging visuals, setting creative direction and helping teams communicate ideas clearly and effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing and executing creative concepts for theme park rides and attractions using a blend of 2D, 3D and illustration
  • Setting art direction and visual tone for early-stage concept work and communicating this clearly to stakeholders
  • Rapidly iterating ideas using sketching, photo bashing, environment design and storyboarding techniques
  • Creating compelling visuals for presentations, flythroughs, theme books and real-world applications
  • Supporting the team in communicating concepts through high-quality graphic design and art direction
  • Collaborating with internal teams to develop and refine concepts in line with strategic and creative objectives
  • Producing visualisations using industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Blender and Unreal
  • Ensuring designs align with brand guidelines across attractions, locations and IP partnerships
  • Working with external vendors and partners to ensure creative intent is delivered effectively
  • Staying up to date with design, architectural and technology trends to enhance creative output

This is a full-time, fixed-term contracted role until June 2027.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in concept art, visualisation or a related discipline, ideally within theme parks, gaming, architecture, film or experience design
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of 2D and 3D concepts and visual storytelling
  • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and 3D software like Blender
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, SketchUp, Twin motion or AI workflows is an advantage
  • Strong ability to translate ideas into clear, engaging and well-crafted visual concepts
  • Confident communicator, able to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving creative environment
  • A passion for storytelling and immersive guest experiences

Benefits

  • 40% off LEGO online
  • 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants
  • Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year
