An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced compliance professional to join a well-established and rapidly growing consumer finance business. This is a key second-line role reporting to the Head of Compliance, with responsibility for leading a small team and ensuring the effective delivery of compliance monitoring, regulatory advice, policy management, and risk oversight activities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining a robust compliance framework while supporting the business in meeting its regulatory obligations and delivering positive customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a small Compliance team
- Manage the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Plan
- Review and challenge compliance outputs, ensuring consistency and quality
- Oversee the identification, escalation and remediation of compliance issues
- Support the maintenance of policies, procedures and regulatory controls
- Provide practical regulatory advice and guidance across the business
- Monitor regulatory developments and support change implementation
- Produce compliance reporting for senior management and governance forums
- Promote a strong compliance culture throughout the organisation
About You
You will be an experienced compliance professional with a background in consumer credit, lending, or a similar FCA-regulated environment.
Essential Experience
- Regulatory compliance experience within financial services
- Experience managing, mentoring or developing team members
- Conducting compliance monitoring reviews and providing meaningful challenge
- Supporting regulatory change initiatives and compliance improvements
- Producing clear, practical and risk-based compliance advice
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of FCA regulation, including Consumer Duty, CONC, SYSC and PRIN
- Knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act and data protection requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong analytical and organisational abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial objectives
