Senior Data Protection Officer in Milton Keynes

We are partnering with a leading multinational organisation within the Financial Services sector seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Data Protection Officer to join its established governance, risk and compliance function.

This Senior Data Protection Officer opportunity is a senior-level appointment requiring an individual with deep technical expertise across data protection, privacy regulation, governance and incident management, ideally gained within a large, complex and highly regulated Financial Services environment.

The successful Senior Data Protection Officer will act as the organisation’s subject matter expert across privacy and data protection matters, taking ownership of critical data governance activity while also leading and developing a specialist team responsible for maintaining high standards of privacy compliance across the wider business.

This role requires an experienced Senior Data Protection Officer who is comfortable operating strategically while remaining hands-on when required, particularly when managing complex or high-risk data breaches from initial incident through to investigation, regulatory reporting, remediation and final resolution.

Key responsibilities and experience required:

• Significant experience working as a Senior Data Protection Officer, Data Protection Manager, Privacy Manager or similar senior privacy-focused role within Financial Services.
• Previous team management or leadership experience, with responsibility for mentoring, developing and overseeing specialist data protection professionals.
• Deep technical understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, privacy regulation and wider international data governance frameworks.
• Proven experience managing data breach incidents end-to-end, including:
• Incident identification and risk assessment
• Regulatory reporting and notification requirements
• Internal stakeholder management across legal, compliance, security and senior leadership teams
• Investigation management, remediation planning and post-incident review
• Experience handling complex privacy incidents within large multinational organisations.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, privacy controls, operational data handling processes and privacy risk management.
• Ability to work closely with technology, legal, compliance, operational and executive stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience operating within complex international businesses where privacy risk and customer data protection are business-critical priorities.
