An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a senior Payments Compliance leader to take on a high-profile role with an established financial services firm.

This is a very exciting time for the company as they look to expand their presence within the global payments ecosystem, creating a rare opportunity to help shape and develop the compliance framework.

This is highly visible leadership position with exposure to senior executives, international regulators and key stakeholders across the global business.

The role

You will act as a strategic adviser on complex regulatory and compliance matters while helping the organisation navigate a rapidly evolving global payments landscape.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and continuous improvement of the international network compliance programme.
  • Acting as a senior subject matter expert across payment networks, merchant services and the wider payments ecosystem.
  • Advising the business on complex and evolving regulatory requirements across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Working closely with senior leadership to ensure products, services and business practices operate within the organisation's compliance risk appetite.
  • Supporting engagement and relationships with international regulators.
  • Providing effective oversight and challenge to the Front Line on significant compliance decisions.
  • Overseeing remediation arising from regulatory or internal findings.
  • Building and developing a small, high-calibre team of payments compliance specialists.
  • Providing strategic insight around emerging technologies, regulatory developments and wider trends affecting the payments industry.

We are particularly interested in individuals with significant experience within payments networks, payment schemes, merchant acquiring/merchant services or closely related payments businesses.

You will ideally bring:

  • Deep knowledge of global payment networks, payment schemes and the associated regulatory environment.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory risks relating to merchant services and third-party payment processors.
  • Experience operating within a complex, highly regulated financial services organisation.
  • A track record of engaging effectively with regulators and senior executives.
  • Experience building, leading and developing high-performing Compliance teams.
  • Strong strategic judgement and the ability to assess complex, multidimensional regulatory risks.
  • The credibility and communication skills to influence at Executive and senior leadership level.
  • A genuine interest in the evolution of payments, technology and the regulatory environment.

Why consider it?

This is much more than a traditional Compliance leadership position. It offers the opportunity to join at a pivotal stage in the development of a major international payments business and play a significant role in shaping how its international compliance capability develops.
