We are working with a highly successful and evolving organisation seeking an experienced Head of Risk to establish and lead its risk function. This is a strategic leadership role offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence decision-making at the highest level.

The successful candidate will be responsible for embedding a proactive approach to risk management, strengthening governance practices, and ensuring the business is well positioned to navigate a changing commercial and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver the organisation's risk strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance to senior leaders on risk-related matters and support informed decision-making.
  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, awareness and ownership across the organisation.
  • Identify emerging threats and opportunities, helping the business respond effectively to change.
  • Enhance governance arrangements and support effective oversight across key business activities.
  • Develop meaningful management information and reporting to support strategic discussions.
  • Lead initiatives that improve organisational resilience, business continuity and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure risk considerations are embedded within planning and execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement across risk processes, frameworks and supporting systems.
  • Build credibility and influence across a broad stakeholder community, acting as a trusted advisor and critical friend.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a capable team while promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Support the organisation through periods of growth, transformation and change.

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior risk leadership position within a complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, governance and regulatory environments.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to balance risk, opportunity and business objectives.
  • Capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at executive and board level.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complexity into clear and actionable insights.
  • An effective leader with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilient, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
