An established and fast-growing UK retail organisation is looking to appoint a Compliance Assurance Officer to join its Group Compliance team.

This role will support the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Programme, providing assurance to senior leadership that systems, controls, and customer outcomes meet regulatory expectations.

You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, carrying out monitoring reviews, identifying potential risks, and helping to strengthen the organisation’s compliance framework within a regulated financial services environment.

This role also includes travel to sites across England, including occasional overnight stays.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the design and delivery of the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan
  • Conducting compliance monitoring reviews across business operations
  • Assessing adherence to FCA regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • Producing clear and insightful reports with findings and recommendations
  • Carrying out customer interaction testing to assess sales behaviours and disclosure standards
  • Performing root cause and trend analysis to identify emerging risks
  • Tracking remediation actions and ensuring effective resolution
  • Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
  • Promoting a positive compliance culture across teams
  • Keeping up to date with regulatory developments and best practice
  • The role will involve occasional travel to operational sites across England to support monitoring activities.

Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years’ experience within a Compliance Monitoring or Compliance Assurance role
  • Experience working in an FCA-regulated financial services environment
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, particularly CONC, DISP and Consumer Duty
  • Understanding of data protection/GDPR principles
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and recommend practical solutions
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High attention to detail and strong written reporting capability
  • Experience within retail or the motor finance sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
