Financial Crime Risk Assessment Manager

MERJE is supporting a leading Wealth & Investment Management firm looking to appoint an experienced Financial Crime Risk Assessment Manager to take a lead role in the development, enhancement and ongoing ownership of its Financial Crime Risk Assessment Framework.
This is a high-profile 2nd Line role with significant senior stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to shape how Financial Crime risk is assessed, governed and reported across the business.
The Role
You will take a lead role in enhancing the firm's Business-Wide Financial Crime Risk Assessment (BWRA) and wider Risk & Controls Framework, including:
- Leading the development and enhancement of the BWRA methodology.
- Assessing inherent and residual Financial Crime risk across customers, products, services, jurisdictions and delivery channels.
- Developing risk categories, scoring models, weightings and risk indicators.
- Building and maintaining a comprehensive risk and controls library.
- Assessing and evidencing control effectiveness and identifying areas for enhancement.
- Developing meaningful MI and reporting for senior management, governance committees and the Board.
- Working across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Lines to challenge assumptions and ensure appropriate business-wide engagement.
- Supporting regulatory reviews, audits and independent assurance activity.
- Ensuring the framework continues to evolve in line with regulatory expectations and emerging Financial Crime risks.
What We're Looking For
This role requires someone with strong Financial Crime expertise who has genuinely led, designed or significantly enhanced a Business-Wide Risk Assessment, rather than simply contributed data or completed individual sections.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong 2nd Line Financial Crime experience.
- Demonstrable experience designing or enhancing BWRA / Financial Crime Risk Assessment methodologies.
- A strong understanding of inherent risk, residual risk, risk scoring and control effectiveness.
- Experience developing Risk & Controls Frameworks and controls libraries.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn risk assessment outputs into meaningful MI.
- The credibility and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and maintain business-wide buy-in.
- Experience presenting to senior management, governance committees and/or Boards.
Experience within Wealth Management, Investment Management, Asset Management or Private Banking would be highly advantageous, although it isn't essential if you have strong Financial Crime Risk Assessment experience within another regulated Financial Services environment.
Salary: Up to £95,000 + benefits
