A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-growing UK Payments/FinTech business as a Client Money Safeguarding Officer (CMSO). Following a sustained period of growth, the business is looking to strengthen its safeguarding and compliance capability with the appointment of an experienced safeguarding professional to play a key role within the organisation’s control framework. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong safeguarding/CASS experience to join a dynamic and ambitious business offering genuine long-term progression and visibility across senior leadership.
The CMSO will take ownership of the firm’s safeguarding framework, ensuring the effective segregation and protection of client funds in line with the Payment Services Regulations (PSRs), E-Money Regulations, and FCA safeguarding expectations. Acting as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for safeguarding and CASS-related controls, the successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of safeguarding and client money processes
- Acting as SME for FCA CASS and safeguarding requirements
- Supporting the design and enhancement of safeguarding frameworks, controls, and policies
- Managing safeguarding reporting and regulatory documentation
- Supporting Treasury operations, liquidity monitoring, and bank account oversight
- Coordinating annual CASS audits and regulatory reviews
- Liaising with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies where required
Requirements
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of the FCA’s Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS)
- Experience gained within an FCA-regulated environment where the firm holds or controls client money
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
