Head of Risk & Governance
Location: North West
Salary: c.£90,000
I’m currently working on a Head of Risk & Governance opportunity with a growing and well-established financial services group.
The role sits within the 2nd Line Risk & Governance function and will have responsibility for developing and maturing the Group’s risk and governance framework across multiple business areas.
You’ll have a broad remit covering enterprise risk, operational resilience, governance, third-party risk and financial crime , with regular exposure to senior stakeholders, the Executive team and Board.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the development and ongoing maturity of the Group-wide Risk & Governance framework
Developing risk strategy, appetite, registers and reporting across the Group
Leading on operational resilience, including oversight of testing, controls and remediation
Developing and maintaining risk MI and reporting for the Executive team, Board and relevant committees
Leading the Group’s third-party risk management approach
Overseeing risk events, incidents, issues and control improvements
Owning the Financial Crime Policy and supporting the Group’s AML framework
Providing risk advice and challenge across the business, helping to embed a strong risk culture
Working closely with Internal Audit, Compliance and senior business stakeholders
Horizon scanning and keeping the Group up to date with relevant regulatory and industry developments
What they’re looking for:
Significant experience within Risk , ideally gained within the insurance sector
Strong understanding of FCA regulation and regulated environments
Experience developing and embedding risk frameworks and governance arrangements
Strong knowledge of risk assessments, controls, risk appetite and operational resilience
Experience operating at a senior level and influencing stakeholders across a business
Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills
