Head of Risk & Governance
Location: North West
Salary: c.£90,000
I’m currently working on a Head of Risk & Governance opportunity with a growing and well-established financial services group.
The role sits within the 2nd Line Risk & Governance function and will have responsibility for developing and maturing the Group’s risk and governance framework across multiple business areas.
You’ll have a broad remit covering enterprise risk, operational resilience, governance, third-party risk and financial crime, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders, the Executive team and Board.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and ongoing maturity of the Group-wide Risk & Governance framework
- Developing risk strategy, appetite, registers and reporting across the Group
- Leading on operational resilience, including oversight of testing, controls and remediation
- Developing and maintaining risk MI and reporting for the Executive team, Board and relevant committees
- Leading the Group’s third-party risk management approach
- Overseeing risk events, incidents, issues and control improvements
- Owning the Financial Crime Policy and supporting the Group’s AML framework
- Providing risk advice and challenge across the business, helping to embed a strong risk culture
- Working closely with Internal Audit, Compliance and senior business stakeholders
- Horizon scanning and keeping the Group up to date with relevant regulatory and industry developments
What they’re looking for:
- Significant experience within Risk, ideally gained within the insurance sector
- Strong understanding of FCA regulation and regulated environments
- Experience developing and embedding risk frameworks and governance arrangements
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments, controls, risk appetite and operational resilience
- Experience operating at a senior level and influencing stakeholders across a business
- Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and drive projects through to completion
