MERITUS are recruiting for Electrical / Hardware Design Engineers to join our client based in Glasgow to support the delivery of complex engineering solutions within the Energy industry.
Design and develop hardware systems using proprietary components, focusing on PLCs, MCCs, drives, controls, and switchgear.
Produce and review detailed electrical designs, cabling schematics, and containment system layouts.
Support site surveys and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver effective project solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring support to junior engineers within the wider team.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, British, and international standards.
Support the full project lifecycle from initial concept design through to final delivery and commissioning.
Skillset / experience required:
- Proven experience designing electrical control panels, PLC systems, and low-voltage distribution systems.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office applications.
- Degree or HND qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working within highly regulated industrial environments.
- Eligibility to obtain UK SC Security Clearance.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within the Nuclear, Defence, Energy, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience with MCCs, drives, switchgear, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant British and international engineering standards.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
- Understanding of full project lifecycle delivery within systems integration environments.
