MERITUS are recruiting for Electrical / Hardware Design Engineers to join our client based in Glasgow to support the delivery of complex engineering solutions within the Energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop hardware systems using proprietary components, focusing on PLCs, MCCs, drives, controls, and switchgear.
- Produce and review detailed electrical designs, cabling schematics, and containment system layouts.
- Support site surveys and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver effective project solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring support to junior engineers within the wider team.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, British, and international standards.
- Support the full project lifecycle from initial concept design through to final delivery and commissioning.
Skillset / Experience Required:
- Essential: Proven experience designing electrical control panels, PLC systems, and low-voltage distribution systems.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office applications.
- Degree or HND qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working within highly regulated industrial environments.
- Eligibility to obtain UK SC Security Clearance.
- Desirable: Previous experience within the Nuclear, Defence, Energy, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience with MCCs, drives, switchgear, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant British and international engineering standards.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
- Understanding of full project lifecycle delivery within systems integration environments.
