MERITUS are recruiting for Mechanical Engineers to join a leading Defence Manufacturing organisation as a part of their Calibration & Maintenance team.
We are looking for Mechanical Engineers to join a Calibration & Maintenance function, supporting manufacturing activities across assembly, integration and testing. Working collaboratively with production, quality and engineering teams, you will play an important role in ensuring measurement accuracy and equipment performance throughout the build process.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hands-on mechanical and dimensional calibration support for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and bespoke test equipment.
- Support dimensional inspection activities, including updating and maintaining CMM measurement programmes.
- Deliver day-to-day dimensional calibration and inspection support for manufacturing teams, fixtures and tooling.
- Act as a trusted technical point of contact for dimensional calibration and inspection queries across manufacturing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance measurement methods, processes and repeatability.
- Support pressure calibration activities where required.
- Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing (such as HNC or Diploma).
- Demonstrable experience in dimensional calibration.
- Good understanding of measurement uncertainty.
- Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), including basic programme creation or modification.
- Experience calibrating torque tools to ISO 6789-2:2017.
- Experience with pressure calibration.
