MERITUS are recruiting for Mechanical Fitters to join a leading Defence Manufacturing organisation.

An opportunity is available for Mechanical Fitters to join a collaborative defence manufacturing team, carrying out manufacturing and testing activities within a mechanical production environment. The role involves working to defined certification procedures, workmanship standards, budgets and timescales to support successful project delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out manufacturing and testing tasks in accordance with product certification procedures.
  • Certify products in line with established certification requirements.
  • Maintain product certification and approvals through regular audits.
  • Apply a broad engineering skillset across a variety of manufacturing tasks.
  • Use equipment, tools and measuring instruments associated with the manufacturing process confidently and effectively.
  • Ensure manufacturing build times are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
  • Complete and maintain all documentation associated with manufacturing data packs accurately.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures relevant to the manufacturing process.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Share knowledge and best practice to support colleagues and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team while demonstrating a customer-focused approach.
  • Demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills, with flexibility and adaptability when priorities change.
Skills & Experience
  • A background in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Completion of a formal engineering or craft apprenticeship is required.
  • Apprenticeship qualified to NVQ Level 3, TR23, TR21 or equivalent.
  • Formal further education qualification to HNC level or equivalent.
  • A positive team-oriented approach with the ability to communicate effectively and contribute to shared success.
