Job Description

MERITUS are recruiting for a Technical Shopfloor Support Engineer to join our client on their Production Line and assist with new projects in manufacturing.

TECHNICAL SHOPFLOOR SUPPORT ENGINEER – INSIDE IR35 – £30.99 PER HOUR (+20% UPLIFT FOR SHIFTS) – 12 MONTHS – BROUGHTON, FLINTSHIRE – SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Double Day Shift Pattern (20% uplift)

Alternating weeks of morning and afternoon Monday to Friday

Mornings – 6:00am – 1:10pm

Afternoons – 1:30pm – 8:40pm

The purpose of the role is to provide on-the-ground technical support to production teams, ensuring smooth operations, fast issue resolution, and continuous improvement across shopfloor activities.

Key Responsibilities:1. Technical Issue Resolution

  • Work alongside production teams to identify and resolve technical issues beyond the scope of operators and first-line managers.

  • Investigate non-conformities (NCs), disruptions, and anomalies; support root cause analysis and resolution.

  • Prepare and enrich technical documentation (e.g., Concessions, Design Query Notes).

2. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify inefficiencies and escalate issues to relevant support teams (Work Prep, Maintenance, etc.).

  • Contribute to process improvements and Lean initiatives (e.g., WIPs, waste elimination, PVFs).

3. Tooling & Equipment Support

  • Request repairs or upgrades for tools and jigs.

  • Draft specifications for new or modified equipment and support calibration needs.

4. Work Order Support

  • Flag and follow up on blocked or delayed work orders.

  • Help prioritize rework and serial orders tied to NCs or production blockers.

5. Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Promote and ensure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.

  • Support application of quality procedures and ensure compliance on the shopfloor.

6. Logistics Coordination

  • Help prioritize material delivery, especially for rework operations.
