MERITUS Talent are working with Europe’s largest weapons manufacturer for the recruitment of a Systems Engineer to join their Bristol office on a hybrid basis

Systems Engineer – Direct Energy Weapon – Bristol – Hybrid – £70ph INSIDE IR35 – 12 Month

Overview of department:

This programme has been and continues to be a boundary pushing weapon system development programme that has significant industry and customer engagement. The programme has been aimed at developing the UK’s first LDEW concept demonstrator, achieving significant success recently with several highly publicised trials activities.

As System Engineer you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to developing advanced defence systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and integration of advanced LDEW systems, ensuring flawless performance and reliability.

Following on from these successes, we are looking for flexible and motivated candidates to continue to develop the programme into a world class, deployable, LDEW air defence system. Our ambitious plans involve parallel and interleaved streams of pioneering technology experimentation and rapid weapon system development, providing opportunities across the key weapon system domains of Systems Engineering: requirements, design, performance analysis and certification.

Responsibilities:

  1. Delivery of TRS/Verification/Certification documentation throughout the project life cycle
  2. Support to the delivery of project material for design reviews
  3. Conduct and delivery of system trade studies analysis and reports

Skillset/experience required:

  1. System Design Engineering
  2. Initiate/undertake and drive trade studies and system development activities
  3. Experience of developing complex systems (ideally in defence)
  4. Ability to communicate architectures and ideas at all levels
  5. Understood elaboration of user requirements with the design authorities in response to their needs and constraints
  6. Support functional design with requirement flow down through system/sub-system/equipment
  7. Ability to disseminate/share technical information to customers in an understandable manner
  8. Develop excellent working relationships with key partners
  9. Desire to develop, build and grow the Systems Design team and the people within it as the project develops
  10. Experience of system architecting tools eg DOORS/DOORS NG/Rhapsody (desirable)
  11. Knowledge of lasers or maritime system integration would be highly beneficial
