MERITUS Talent are working with one of Europe's leading defence manufacturers for the recruitment of a Stereolith Engineer to join their Bolton office on a 12 Month contract. The role requires someone to undergo an SC Clearance, with sole British citizenship required. A full-time on-site presence is mandatory, with a rate of £36 per hour via an Umbrella company.
Overview: The Stereolithography department provides rapid prototyping and 3D printing solutions across all UK sites. Using state-of-the-art equipment, materials and software, the team produces models for design validation, functional prototyping, production tooling and display purposes. A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join the team. This hands-on role will support the full 3D printing process, contribute to facility and equipment upgrades, and help maintain continuous capability throughout the year. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the latest CAD designs from engineers across a wide range of development and production projects.
The Role: Reporting to the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you'll receive full training and ongoing support. Your work will involve both day-to-day operational tasks and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and assess incoming print requests for suitability and optimal outcome
- Use Materialise Magics to prepare print files (orientation, supports, programming)
- Generate and manage manufacturing route cards
- Take ownership of the full 3D printing process, from setup through to final part production
- Handle hazardous materials and equipment safely; contribute to and follow risk assessments and safety procedures
- Monitor and maintain stock of consumables, raising requisitions as needed
- Oversee printer calibration and liaise with service contractors
- Maintain general housekeeping, including waste management and floor cleaning
- Support identification and resolution of equipment/process issues
- Update and follow work instructions; ensure high-quality output with a right-first-time mindset
- Keep the internal print schedule up to date; communicate progress with internal customers via the shared 3D print request mailbox
- Lead process improvements aimed at increasing quality and reducing lead times
- Update documentation following any process changes
- Use Creo and Magics to analyse, modify and set up CAD models for printing
- Minor CAD edits or creation may be required
- More complex CAD work will be handled by the Tool Design team
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in 3D printing technologies
