MERITUS are recruiting for a Buildings & Construction UK Buyer to join our client in an initial 6 month contract from their site in Broughton. The role will be to support international facility growth across multiple sites for a major aerospace business.

The role sits within a central procurement function responsible for delivering strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial optimisation activities across a multi-site, multi-divisional operational environment. The successful candidate will lead procurement projects, manage supplier relationships, support cross-functional stakeholders and drive cost, performance and compliance improvements across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle.

This position requires a commercially astute procurement professional with experience managing complex sourcing activities, negotiating strategic agreements and operating within highly matrixed international organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver strategic procurement activities across infrastructure, facilities, construction and associated service categories.
  • Implement procurement strategies aligned to business and operational objectives.
  • Lead sourcing activities and competitive tender processes across national and international supplier markets.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional procurement project teams involving operational, technical, legal, finance and business stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and implement framework agreements and long-term supplier contracts.
  • Develop and maintain high-performing supplier networks aligned to operational and strategic business requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance through KPI reviews, governance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual and supply chain risks.
  • Support demand management, specification challenge and cost optimisation activities.
  • Drive savings and value-generation initiatives through standardisation, aggregation and procurement optimisation.
  • Support implementation of digital procurement tools and process improvements.
  • Provide procurement governance, process guidance and commercial support to internal stakeholders.
  • Support make-versus-buy analysis, benchmarking and strategic sourcing activities.
Essential Experience
  • Strong procurement or strategic sourcing experience within complex operational or engineering environments.
  • Experience managing competitive tendering and supplier negotiation activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination capability.
  • Experience managing supplier performance and commercial risk.
  • Knowledge of contract management and procurement governance processes.
  • Ability to operate within matrixed international organisations.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Commercially driven mindset with strong analytical capability.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, infrastructure, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
  • Exposure to facilities management, construction or infrastructure procurement categories.
  • Experience supporting international or multi-divisional procurement programmes.
  • Knowledge of digital procurement platforms and e-procurement tools.
  • Experience delivering procurement savings and operational transformation initiatives.
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent procurement accreditation.
