MERITUS are recruiting for a CNC Turner Setter Operator to join our Precision Manufacturing client in their growing Production team in a permanent role.

An established and rapidly growing precision manufacturing company is continuing to strengthen its machining team following sustained growth across aerospace, defence and commercial engineering programmes. As new projects continue to be secured and production expands, they are looking to welcome an experienced CNC Turner/Programmer Setter to join the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys producing high-quality precision components, working with modern CNC machinery, and taking ownership of setting, operating and online programming CNC lathes to meet exact engineering specifications.

Working with Doosan and Haas CNC lathes, you will play an important role in supporting production, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the successful delivery of precision-engineered components for highly regulated industries.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting, operating and online programming Doosan and Haas CNC lathes to produce precision components in line with engineering drawings, setting instructions and quality standards. The role involves preparing machines, setting fixtures and tooling, creating and adjusting programmes at the machine, monitoring tooling and surface finish, and supporting production requirements through accurate and efficient machining.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and online programme Doosan and Haas CNC lathes.
  • Produce precision-machined components to engineering drawing specifications.
  • Create, edit and adjust CNC programmes at the machine to support production requirements.
  • Set chucks, fixtures and tooling in accordance with setting instructions.
  • Set tool heights and tool definitions to ensure accurate machining.
  • Check components at the machine to ensure parts remain compliant with drawing and quality requirements.
  • Work towards agreed production targets in line with scheduled manufacturing requirements.
  • Monitor tool wear to ensure tooling remains in good condition and does not affect component quality.
  • Monitor and visually inspect surface finish to ensure quality standards are maintained.

  • Monitor surface finishes and identify any issues affecting component quality.

  • Support the achievement of agreed production targets in line with the manufacturing schedule.
  • Maintain consistent machining standards throughout production runs.
  • Tooling
  • Monitor tool wear and ensure tooling remains suitable for continued production.
  • Take appropriate action where tooling condition may impact job quality.
