About the Role
This fantastic role is for a junior to intermediate Legal Assistant. You will be providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Principal Lawyer and team of lawyers within the Professional Risks team in our Sydney Office. This is a fast-paced but pivotal legal support role with a varied workload, competing priorities and key deadlines. In return you will have the opportunity to work alongside and support a high performing team of highly regarded legal professionals who are committed to delivering excellence to our clients.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assisting fee earners with good practice hygiene including:
- Preparing WIP and pre-bills in a timely manner
- Working closely with Finance Team to assist with monthly billing and debtor management
- Managing monthly billing cycles, using Aderant Expert software
- Client service focus, liaising with both external and internal stakeholders
- Opening new matters and conducting conflict check searches
- Maintaining electronic filing to ensure all files are up to date
- Drafting and amending legal correspondence and documents
- Preparing briefs
- Assisting with monthly reporting processes
- Assisting with overflow of tasks
Education
Completion of Higher School Certificate (or equivalent)
Experience
You will have experience in a legal administration support role ideally within a legal environment. This role has a focus on Insurance work. You work fast and are able to keep up with high work turnover whilst taking pride in any support required by your team. You consistently demonstrate professional composure, with the ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and integrity as well as your strong client service orientation. You have excellent time management skills and take pride in your work and any support required by your team. Advanced skills in the MS suite are favourable. Prior experience in Aderant and iManage is favourable. You will be someone who has a can do attitude, takes a genuine interest in your work and is a proactive team player with strong attention to detail.
