About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant looking to take the next step in their career to join our Finance team based in our Sydney office. This role undertakes the daily financial management, reporting and regulatory responsibilities together with supporting the financial controller with budgeting and modelling within the Meridian finance team.
Your days will be full and varied with a sample of the tasks that you will be across below:
- Financial Management and Reporting Month End
- Preparing the monthly Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports, analysing and investigating variances to the budget, summarising data and information and providing insightful commentary on results.
- Preparation of weekly firm revenue, KPI and Utilisation reports within agreed timelines and resolving queries and issues in a timely manner.
- Preparation of the month end and quarter end balance sheet reconciliations for Meridian in accordance with Meridian’s policy and timetable.
- Managing the general ledger and inter-company reconciliations.
- Management of monthly accruals and journals and closing out of month end for Meridian in accordance with month end timetable.
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Assist Meridian Financial Controller in the development and preparation of the Annual budget.
- Assist Meridian Financial Controller with the preparation of the ongoing forecasts.
- Assist in preparation of weekly cash flow and rolling cash flow forecast.
- Assist Meridian Financial Controller by providing insights to the business units for expense management.
- Tax / Statutory / Regulatory
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS Returns for Meridian.
- Audit – assist in the year end audit by answering auditor queries and assisting in the substantiation of Meridian’s financial statement areas.
- Day to day
- Aderant Expert finance administration.
- Deliver on ad-hoc requests from the business in a timely manner.
About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to:
- Have 2 - 4 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant role.
- Have completed or studying toward CPA/CA.
- Have professional working knowledge of accounting functions and services as well as well-honed excel skills.
- Be well known for your high attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in professional services is preferable but not a must.
- Superior communication skills and personal drive.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
