Role Purpose

This opportunity is for a motivated Associate/Senior Associate to join our high-performing Professional and Financial Risks (Litigation) team in our Sydney office. Ideally, you will bring a minimum 4 years’ Post Qualification Experience and a strong interest in insurance litigation. In this role, you will work across a wide variety of insurance law and litigation matters with a focus on public and product liability insurance and professional indemnity. You will work across different industry sectors, with a particular focus on the strata, sports, leisure and construction industries sectors. This exciting role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to be heavily involved in all aspects of their matters, allowing you to make a significant contribution to their outcome. You will be supported by a highly experienced Principal and Senior Lawyers who are committed to mentoring and developing you, while being part of a collegiate and collaborative team. This is the perfect environment to further develop your advocacy skills, strategic-advice work, and practice management skills.

About you

  • Minimum 4 years PQE in a Litigation based role in private practice or in-house, and with proven experience in various areas of public and product liability insurance and professional indemnity
  • Genuine interest in the strata, sports, leisure and construction industries sectors
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Positive, “can do” attitude and willingness to be a key member of a busy, tight knit team
  • A sharp eye for detail and strong writing skills
  • A great work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your career.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the legal issues relevant to the practice of insurance law and a demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the commercial objectives of clients.
  • This role requires an eye for technical detail but also the ability to provide legal advice in a commercial context.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to deal confidently with clients directly and foster client relationships.
  • Time management skills and proven ability to prioritise multiple active matters at any one time.
  • Capacity to problem solve and think laterally.
