Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Taunton that specialises in producing high-quality tooling and engineered components for a range of industries. This is a permanent role. The Role As a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will play a key role in the manufacture, modification and repair of precision tooling and components, working within a dedicated engineering and toolroom environment. Key responsibilities include: Operating manual milling machines and lathes to produce precision-engineered parts and tooling. Using XYZ ProTRAK machinery where required. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances accurately. Carrying out fitting, assembly, finishing and modification work on tooling and components. Using micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection equipment to maintain quality standards. Working closely with CNC machinists and other engineering colleagues to deliver projects efficiently.This Manual Machinist / Toolmaker position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering work, problem-solving and producing high-quality workmanship to close tolerances. Skills & Experience To be successful as a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will ideally have: Previous experience within manual machining, toolmaking, precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment. Strong experience operating manual mills and lathes. The ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings. Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment. Good practical problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Experience of fitting and assembling precision parts or tooling. A reliable, organised and quality-focused approach to work.Experience with XYZ ProTRAK equipment would be advantageous but is not essential. What's on Offer?
