Summary
We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day accounts function across a successful local Garden Centre group operating multiple sites.
Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will manage and support an established team of four accounts staff. This is a hands‑on role, requiring someone who is comfortable getting involved in the detail while providing friendly and supportive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to‑day accounts function across four companies
- Leading and supporting the existing accounts team
- Month‑end processes, trial balances and reconciliations
- Investigating discrepancies and variances
- Managing sales, purchases, cash, banking and stock transactions
- Monthly payroll and VAT records
- Supporting cash flow management and financial reporting
- Maintaining strong financial controls and processes
- Liaising with colleagues across the wider business and multiple sites
About You
You will have a strong hands‑on accounts background, with experience of month‑end processes, reconciliations and double‑entry bookkeeping. Previous leadership experience is essential, along with strong Excel skills and experience using Sage.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and able to explain things clearly, with a collaborative management style that will work well with an experienced and long‑standing team.
