Job Description \nAre you an experienced Manual Machinist / Toolmaker looking for a varied engineering role where quality and craftsmanship are genuinely valued?\n \nMeridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Taunton that specialises in producing high-quality tooling and engineered components for a range of industries. This is a permanent role.\n \nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled manufacturing team where no two projects are the same, offering a diverse workload, modern facilities, overtime opportunities and a 2pm finish every Friday.\n The Role \n \nAs a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will play a key role in the manufacture, modification and repair of precision tooling and components, working within a dedicated engineering and toolroom environment.\n \n \n Operating manual milling machines and lathes to produce precision-engineered parts and tooling. \n Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances accurately. \n Carrying out fitting, assembly, finishing and modification work on tooling and components. \n Using micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection equipment to maintain quality standards. \n Working closely with CNC machinists and other engineering colleagues to deliver projects efficiently. \n This Manual Machinist / Toolmaker position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering work, problem-solving and producing high-quality workmanship to close tolerances.\n \nSkills & Experience\n \nTo be successful as a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will ideally have:\n \n \n Previous experience within manual machining, toolmaking, precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment. \n Strong experience operating manual mills and lathes. \n The ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings. \n Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment. \n Good practical problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. \n A reliable, organised and quality-focused approach to work. \n \n \n Up to £16.50 per hour, depending on experience \n Overtime hourly rate \n 2pm finish every Friday \n Company pension scheme \n Life insurance \n On-site parking \n Varied, bespoke engineering projects rather than repetitive production work \n Supportive and experienced manufacturing team \n Stable permanent employment with a growing engineering business \n This is a fantastic opportunity for a time-served machinist, toolmaker, fitter, toolroom engineer or precision engineer looking to join a company that values accuracy, quality and attention to detail.\
