Our client, based in Yeovil (BA20), is seeking a Project Planner to provide project controls support to the Project/Programme Manager (PM) with the objective of delivering projects and programmes on time and within budget. This is a full-time temporary position working 37 hours per week until December 2025, with the possibility of extension. The role requires working on site 100% of the time in Yeovil, Somerset.
Note: Due to the nature of this role involving access to national security documentation, candidates must be Sole UK Nationals and will be required to hold or obtain SC Clearance as part of pre-employment vetting.
Main Purpose:Support the PM in developing and maintaining the project master schedule in accordance with the contract, liaising directly with other business functions. Ensure data integrity throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare reports on project status for the programmes team and customer. Identify schedule and cost variances and collaborate with the programme team and business functions to establish corrective actions.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement the programme or project schedule and SAP Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) according to the contracted scope, delivery dates, Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM), financial baseline, and Leonardo procedures.
- Coordinate, control, and integrate interfaces across multiple sub-projects, creating logical links and maintaining updates, applying earned value techniques where applicable.
- Contribute to establishing and implementing standards and best practices across programmes or projects through the Process and Governance teams.
- Maintain and control the programme or project schedule baseline (dates and budgets), reflecting any contracted amendments. Manage approval and communication of changes following Leonardo procedures.
- Ensure alignment of budgets and dates within SAP via the MSP plan with the approved Company Work Order.
- Oversee timely processing of schedule updates, monitor schedule accuracy and version control, and work with teams to improve processes ensuring data integrity.
- MOD/Defence experience is desirable.
- Microsoft Project experience is essential.
- Knowledge of Electronic/Live Reporting is desirable.
- Experience with Earned Value Management.
- Good knowledge of company products and organisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and provide leadership when required.
- Effective in building networks within LH and creating strong relationships with functional areas.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Focus on goals and priorities with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in planning and scheduling complex tasks within aerospace or similar industrial environments.
