The Opportunity: Reporting to the HR Lead of this well established engineering company employing 200 staff in Somerset, the HR Manager will embrace every aspect of this interesting 360 Generalist role. The HR Manager will play a key role in supporting the people strategy whilst providing expert HR advice and operational support to managers and employees, with a particular focus on cultivating a positive workplace culture and driving HR initiatives that align with the unique needs of a manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional support, information and guidance to managers and employees in all HR issues, ensuring that best HR practice and legislation is applied.
  • Supervise and support the HR Administrators to ensure timely and accurate handling of:
  • Recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Employee lifecycle administration (starters, changes, leavers)
  • Flexible working, maternity/paternity/parental leave procedures
  • Time and attendance system processing
  • Occupational health appointment scheduling
  • Assist with delivering internal communications as part of the Company Communication Strategy, using email, noticeboards, and digital displays.
  • Manage and update the HR SharePoint site to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
  • You will offer:

    • CIPD Level 5 qualification
    • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, policies, and HR best practice
    • Policy development and review, including negotiation with Trades Unions on Collective Agreements and Terms and Conditions Statements
    • GDPR knowledge and data-protection awareness
    • Good working knowledge of end-to-end recruitment processes

    Associated Benefits:

    • 26 days holiday per annum (allocated to fixed and flexible dates) plus 8 statutory bank holidays.

    Working Hours:

    • 07.00 to 16.30 Monday to Wednesday, 07.00 to 16.00 Thursday with every Friday off.
